Side By Side - Tony & Gillyée

Tony      Gillyée

Tony

Tony is able to alter his voice to create many different characters in both speaking and singing. The results are so convincing, audiences have been heard to wonder whether or not he might sound like that in real life!

Yet it is just one more string to this exciting performer's bow.

He now takes a great deal of pleasure in the harmony, both personal and musical, that he finds in singing with Gillyée as Side by Side.

PERSONAL HISTORY:
Tony first stepped onto a stage at the tender age of four. At 8, he began learning how to play the electric organ, which in turn led to learning other musical instruments. In 1984, he wrote his very first song. In 1993, he began in earnest, learning the craft of arranging and orchestrating music.

After working with a number of professional and community groups over the following decade, he and Gillyée met at rehearsals for a fundraising concert for
Balya Cancer Support. It was a meeting that changed both lives.

Tony brings his musicianship and showmanship to Side by Side.

Tony loves to perform:

"Ma Crépes Suzette", a crazy, quazi-French number à la Kenneth Williams;
"I'm On My Way", from The Proclaimers, Side by Side style with the Sidekicks;
"I Know Him/Her So Well", from "Chess", in Swedish and English, with Gillyée;
"My Lovesong To You", from Jackie Gleason's "The Honeymooners";
"A Lovely Interlude", the self-penned song that he sang to Gillyée at their Wedding Reception;
"Begin The Beguine", the Porter tour de force; &
"Our Beautiful Life", and other original songs.

He also sings in other languages such as Swedish, Spanish and Croatian.

Gillyée

Gillyée's voice range enables her to sing a vast variety of songs from semi-operatic to jazz, blues, country and ballads. Her charm and versatility in presentation makes a charismatic appeal to all her audiences.

She now enjoys the challenge of creating and performing brand-new musical programmes with the group Side By Side.

PERSONAL HISTORY:
Gillyée was a lead singer with The Capers Revue for over twenty years and producer for the past four years. She has a proven skill in nurturing new talent and achieving a high standard of entertainment with a group as a producer/director.

The Capers Revue was one of the most popular groups in the metropolitan area. Until the death of her mother, Gillyée toured with great success as "The Double Gee's", a duo well known for their harmonies.

Gillyée's professionalism and enthusiasm enhances every performance.

Gillyée loves to perform:
"Dances Of Yesteryear", a song which features "The Blue Danube Waltz";
"If You're Irish Come Into The Parlour" and other Irish hits;
"If I Loved You", from "Carousel";
"Alexander's Ragtime Band", the Berlin classic;
"Andante Andante", and the great songs of ABBA;
"He Never Did That To Me", a comic Noël Coward song; &
